Looking Toward Our Future
As we celebrate 50 years, we would like to ask what we want this community to become in the years ahead. How do we honor and carry forward the wisdom and activism of our past while also imagining new ways to support UU women+ today—through leadership, spiritual grounding, mutual support, and connection beyond the annual retreat?
We also want to explore whether there are ways we might stay connected throughout the year, support one another in the challenges facing our UU communities, and consider whether our current name still reflects who we are and who we hope to welcome.
UU Community Leadership & Support
We are considering offering one or more workshops at the retreat for women+ who want to talk about the challenges facing our UU communities, share ideas and experiences, support one another, and explore leadership together. Our hope is to create a space where people can learn from one another, feel less alone in the challenges they are carrying, and strengthen their capacity to serve and lead in their communities. On the registration form you will see a question about roles you might have in your UU congregation or community.
Book Club
Our retreat book will be I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times by Mónica Guzmán
The book explores how curiosity, listening, and genuine conversation can help us better understand people whose views differ from our own. We will hold a book discussion during the retreat weekend. If this interests you, we invite you to read the book before the retreat and come prepared to participate in the conversation.
